COMING HOME, HOME IS WHERE THE HEART IS, THERE’S NO PLACE LIKE HOME, COUNTRY ROAD…TAKE ME HOME
There is no place I’d rather be than home. It’s a place that I create, rest, rejuvenate, and celebrate. Hosting people is a way for me to show others how much I care about them. Whipping up an amazing meal (or having my husband do so), while creating an environment that makes guests want to relax, and kick back is my idea of happiness. I love pulling together the place settings, flowers, candles, playlist, and whatever scent seems fitting for that evening.
When I was a newbie attorney, my husband and I would have people over to dinner at least four times per week, if not more often. Our friends had dedicated space in our refrigerator for their beverages of choice. Colleagues would stop by my office and ask what was on the menu that night. It was such a fun time. Getting crushed as new lawyer by day, laughing with friends over an incredible meal by night. Ah but time goes on, and there are seasons.
The next season was filled with little babies, intense sleep deprivation, and career building. That was a season filled with home as well but in a different way. Gorgeous antique buffets were turned into changing stations. Pretty things were put away and replaced with the most valuable gifts I’ve ever received, my kiddos. I’d say we were in the intense child rearing of little people for close to a decade.
This new season of life has us home, on the road traveling, out in the community having civilized meals with other people but at the end of the day, we are home bodies. I think that’s why I love this career of mine. From creating a dream home in my mind, to the thrill of the hunt to find it, to creating, and re-creating the spaces on the inside, home is my haven. I’m excited to share all we have planned in 2019 for our home, from a guest bedroom make-over, to a playroom fit for littles to pre-teens, an outdoor escape, and a casita home office that will make you want to work overtime. 2019 has so much in store. Thank you for coming along. If you aren’t familiar with song “Home” by Blue October, take a listen below. It is an absolute favorite. One I used to listen to on repeat on planes when traveling for work and coming home….
