THE SHOWER DOOR THAT TURNED INTO SO MUCH MORE........ - Alexis Michaud

THE SHOWER DOOR THAT TURNED INTO SO MUCH MORE……..

NINE WEEKS LATER THE TWO AND HALF WEEK RENOVATION WAS COMPLETE

Fifteen Drawer Vanity.  The mats are the bane of my existence.  Still on the hunt for the right rugs.

I know I’m not alone here.  You get to thinking of making a small repair and then the what-ifs, the dreams, the vision, the renovation……begins.  We moved into a new  house in June.  By July we were renovating the master bathroom.

White subway tile, with hexagon marble, and Restoration Hardware rain shower head and fixture.

We showered a handful of times in the master bathroom shower and each time things were said like “We don’t have to live like this!” “Is this shower head actually working?” “Do you think the door is about to fall off the hinges?”  Clearly these are first world problems but the idea of getting a light, bright, clean master bathroom was all too exciting.  One day spent online, at tile stores, and Restoration Hardware and the dream seemed closer to a reality.

My BFF and her husband flip houses and happen to be our neighbors.  We had a quick conversation. I reached out to their contractor and we naively left on vacation.  For those of you who have renovated before you can stop laughing now. We were bright eyed and full of hope.  How efficient was this process we thought to ourselves, and then the phone rang.

Restoration Hardware Lighting and Mirrors

It was our contractor attempting to Facetime with us and discuss the missing parts to all the deliveries we had being shipped to our house. Turns out a very important part had not been ordered.  It was what it was.  Nine weeks later our bathroom was finished and despite the 115 degree temperatures for three weeks straight, combined with the visqueen and dust in our room, the wait was worth it.

We had a fifteen drawer vanity custom made that is my OCD day dream.  Each drawer has a purpose.  There is no wasted space. No trying to stack shelves for multiple levels in a cabinet.  Just clean lined, organized, beauty.  We enlarged the shower and had 12 feet glass installed.  The rain shower head is my husband’s favorite. My favorite part of this bathroom are the oversized mirrors that reflect light all over the space.  The shower door turned into a full blown renovation and we could not be happier.  Even though we do not plan on selling this house ever, the Realtor in me knows that a master bathroom renovation (done on budget) is always a good addition to your home. We like to believe our old bathroom wanted us to be happier…..like Marshmello and Bastille.
